Florence Gill

Florence E. Gill, 94, wife of the late Andrew J. Gill, died on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Southington Care Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on July 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Marfisia (Polvani) Ercolani. She was a lifelong Meriden resident. Mrs. Gill was employed by Allied Control of Southington. Florence loved to bake and put together trays of cookies for family weddings and anniversaries for over fifty years, giving her the name “ The Cookie Nonni”. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Gill and his wife Rosa of Southington and Richard Gill and his wife Kathleen of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Karen Gill, Debra (Richard) Coppola, Trish Gill, Andrew Gill, Shari (Sal) DiDomenico, Heather (Paul) Miranda and Jennifer (John) Rich; sixteen great-grandchildren, Vicenza and Andrew DiDomenico, Megan, Jack and Carley Rich, Justin, Samuel and Sophie Miranda, Kaleigh and Dylan Richey, AJ and Jimmy Menard, Catherine and Joseph Coppola, and Austin and Olivia Gill. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Dorothy Ercolani and many nieces and nephews, including her special niece and nephew, Linda Ercolani and Joseph Ercolani. She was predeceased by two brothers, Santi and Alfred Ercolani. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10 am at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main Street, South Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be private.
