Theodore Coitrone

Theodore Peter Coitrone, 83, husband of the late Beverly J. (Colangelo) Coitrone, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hartford Hospital after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born in Meriden on February 14, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Gladys (Ziehler) Coitrone. Ted was a lifelong Meriden resident, employed by L. Suzio Construction as a driver for thirty-nine years, where he also served as a Union Steward. Ted was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 677. After his retirement, he served as a trustee for the Teamsters Retirement Chapter, where he collected for the Iwo Jima fund and various other activities. He was a veteran of the Korean war, having served with the U.S. Army. Ted was an active parishioner of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He led the food pantry at St. Andrew’s, which is now called Ted’s Pantry in his honor. He served on the Vestry and volunteered his time at the Meriden Soup Kitchen with St. Andrew’s. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Meriden Soup Kitchen and was a Mason for over thirty years. Ted was respected and loved by everyone that knew him. He touched many hearts with his kindness. He is survived by his children, Debra Coitrone, Linda Coitrone Rioux (James Clinton) and Aileen Richards; one son-in-law, Matthew Morasutti; four grandchildren, Jessica Sicard, Todd (Kimberly) Nareau, Fayth June Rioux and Russell Richards; four great-grandchilden, Haley Regan, Brian Hart, Alexander Nareau and Rebecca Nareau and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11 am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 20 Catlin Street, Meriden with the Reverend Marissa Rohrbach officiating. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Sunday, January 10th from 3 to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Ted’s Pantry, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 20 Catlin Street, Meriden, CT 06450.
