Charles W. Petroske, age 97, husband of the late Constance Cavalieri Petroske, died on Tuesday November 10, 2015 at Meriden Center Health Care. Born in Meriden on May 18, 1918, he was the son of the late Anthony and Theresa Schmelter Petroske. Chas attended Meriden schools and had resided in Meriden most of his life. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation mechanic during WWII. Chas was employed by American Cyanamid for over 25 years before his retirement in 1982. Survivors include his nephew, Stephen Sargalski and his wife Marianne of Meriden and their children Glorianne Rusate of Meriden, Diane Sargalski of Meriden and Jeffrey Sargalski of Bloomfield. His niece Barbara Sargalski of Meriden and his nephew Thomas Sargalski of Georgia. He is also survived by his three grandnephews Dennis O’Brien and his wife Dorothy of Meriden and their children Daniel O’Brien of North Haven and Debra Chute of Avon; Michael O’Brien and his wife Mary of Higganum and their children Michael O’Brien of Middletown and Stephen O’Brien of Higganum and Kevin O’Brien of Meriden and his daughter Erica Hedley of Windsor and many great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased several brothers and sisters; Martha O’Brien, Anna Petroske, John Petroske and his wife Rose (Scully), Joseph Petroske, Helen Sargalski and her husband Edward and Frank Petroske all of Meriden; nephews Edward O’Brien and his wife Mary (Knop) and Richard Sargalski. A funeral service will on Monday November 16th at 10:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St. Meriden. A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 5 Sherman Pl. Meriden. Burial with military honor at St. Boniface Cemetery. Family and friend may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9 to 10:15 a.m.
