Carroll M. Custy, 94, of Meriden, beloved husband of the late Mary (Conlon) Custy, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Middlesex Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on November 20, 1920, he was the son of the late John and Johanna (Caffrey) Custy and had attended St. Joseph School and was a graduate of Meriden High School, Class of 1938. Mr. Custy was employed by the United States Postal Service as a supervisor, owned Custy’s Rug Cleaning Service and after his retirement, was a Toll Collector on the Wilbur Cross Parkway. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy, in the Atlantic Theatre on the Destroyer USS Ludlow. Mr. Custy was a very active parishioner and lector of St. Rose of Lima Church. He was a coach for many years for Meriden Little League and the Intermediate League in Meriden. He was one of the founding members of the Meriden Sports Hall of Fame, a member of the Meriden Hall of Fame, a Board Member of the Meriden Boys Club and a member of Friends of the Library. He organized the Meriden High School, Class of 1938 reunions, and was a proud performer in the St. Rose of Lima Variety Shows. Mr. Custy loved playing sports and was on the Meriden High School baseball and basketball teams and many other basketball league teams. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Girls Basketball Team. He enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife of 58 years Mary, to whom he was a devoted caregiver in her final years. He loved and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, cheering them on in their sporting events and school endeavors. Carroll spent many mornings with his pals at McDonalds talking about old times. He was a kind and caring man who had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by four children, Tim Custy and his wife Julie of South Meriden, Eileen Custy and her fiancé William Janssen of Northford, Mary Ann Amarante and her husband Vincent of Middlefield, and Patricia Yale and her husband John of Middlefield; 11 grandchildren, John and Tim Custy, Michael, Nicholas and Alex Amarante, Carolyn and Melissa Grime, and Mary, Megan, Molly and Matthew Yale. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Jack Custy, and a sister, Doris Pronovost. The funeral will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 9 am from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 3 to 7 pm. Theodore LeBlanc

Theodore LeBlanc, also known as Ted, 70, passed on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Middlesex Hospice Care Center after a five year battle with cancer. Born in Orleans, Vermont on July 11, 1945, he attended schools in Vermont and graduated from Orleans H.S., Class of 1965. Theodore served his country and was stationed in Korea for all of his military career. Theodore moved to Connecticut after serving in the military. He worked at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Cuno in Meriden and then he worked at Morgan Advanced Materials in Durham until his passing. Theodore was an avid fisherman and golfer with his close friend, Jack Armack. He was the beloved husband of Roberta LeBlanc for twenty-eight years. Theodore leaves his father, Paul LeBlanc, his brother, Norman LeBlanc and his wife Rhonda, his sisters, Carmen LaMarche and Paulette Riendeau, all from Vermont. He leaves his son, Joseph LeBlanc and his step-son, Michael Johnson and his wife, Jo-Ann, his step-daughters, Lisa Hunter and her husband Leroy, Sunde Warner and her fiancé, Joe. Theodore leaves his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who loved him dearly and his special pet poodle, Cookie. Theodore is predeceased by his mother, Gertrude LeBlanc , his sister, Joanne Hamel and brother, Alan LeBlanc, all from Vermont. You will always be loved forever in our hearts and missed by your family and friends. Family and friends may call at the John J. MERIDEN – Robert Mauri, 64, beloved husband of the late Pamela Mauri passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden on Jan. 30, 1951, he was the son of the late Alfred and Arlene Mauri. He resided in Meriden for all of his life and graduated from Platt High School. He worked for Meriden Wallingford Hospital and then joined his families roofing business Royal Roofing. He was a devoted grandfather and father. He enjoyed long drives which often times took us to all places; especially the one to Maine. Spending time with his grandchildren and watching them grow he said was the best gift in life. He will be greatly missed, especially his sense of humor which made everyone he came in contact with laugh. Robert is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Mauri of Meriden, two granddaughters, Ashley and Cassie; two sisters, Barbara Kubeck (Gerald) and Phyllis Vincenzo (Joseph); two brothers, Fred Mauri (Ann), Tom Mauri (Georgann) and sister-in-law, Celeste Mauri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his brother, David Mauri. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Thursday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Alice Rita (Sylvia) Gelinas, 82, died on Friday, August 7, 2015 in Viera, FL. Alice was born in New Bedford, MA, June 28, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph and Dora (Roberts) Sylvia. A retired Religious Education Coordinator at St. Rose of Lima Church, she was a resident of Meriden for 55 years before relocating to Melbourne, FL in 2008. Alice is survived by three daughters, Doralee Gelinas of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Norma (Bruce) Waters of Melbourne, FL, and Diane (Don) Ascare of Troy, MO; two sons, Charles Gelinas of Liberty Hill, TX, and Roger Gelinas of Edgartown, MA; five grandchildren, Rishi Freejoy, Ethan Gelinas, Allyson Gelinas, Anthony Ascare and Alyssa Proia and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Gelinas; her sister, Margaret; and three brothers, Joseph, Robert and William. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Entombment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Paul Edward Krochmal, M.D., passed away unexpectedly August 25, 2015. He was the husband of Joan Krochmal, and resided in Branford for many years. Dr. Krochmal was born in Meriden, Connecticut, on June 25, 1947, to the late Henry and Ilka (Zollschan) Krochmal. He is survived by his lovely wife Joan, his brother Henry and his spouse Margaret of Windsor, CT, his niece Karin and her spouse Richard of New Haven, CT, his nephew Robert and his spouse Donna of Topanga, CA, and his nephew Michael and his spouse Heather of Park City, UT. He is also survived by three step-children: Christopher and his spouse Jennifer of Rye, NY, Anthony and his spouse Amy of Suwanee, GA and Jennifer and her spouse Justin of Guilford, CT. A 1965 graduate of Platt High School in Meriden, he was a proud alumnus and benefactor of Cornell University. He went on to graduate from New York Medical College in 1975. Paul was an emergency room specialist, and worked in NY City, Boston, and several Connecticut hospitals until his retirement. Paul loved and rejoiced in his family and his vast circle of friends. He was loyal and exceptionally generous to each and all of them. He regularly attended Y’s Men of Meriden, and was diligent in maintaining close contact with many of his Meriden friends. Paul enjoyed and was accomplished at photography and digital printing, and regularly showered the subjects of his photography with multiple, large prints. He was known for his gentle eccentricity, and designed and mailed over 400 Valentine’s Day cards annually. To be a friend of Paul’s was to have your life blessed. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the B’Nai Abraham Cemetery, 114 Corrigan Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangement are under the direction of the John J. Doris Albano, 92, wife of the late Rocco Albano, died on Thursday August 27, 2015 at home. Born in Wallingford on May 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Clementina (Perrachio) Bonfatti. Mrs. Albano graduated from Meriden High and resided in Meriden all her life. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church and was extremely devoted to her family. She is survived by her daughter Dorina LeRoy of Meriden; two sons Rocco and his wife Claire Albano of Southington and Joseph Albano of Meriden; three grandchildren Heather (Albano) and her husband Richard Jackson and Molly Albano, all of Massachusetts and Daniel and his wife Jennifer LeRoy of Meriden; one great-grandchild Kevin LeRoy as well as her sister Edith Benoit of Meriden. Doris is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the John J. Rita Reynolds Mischke, 90, of Wesleyan Hills, Middletown, CT., beloved wife of John J. Mischke passed away peacefully August 30, 2015. Born on July 15, 1925 in Meriden, CT she was the daughter of the late John E. Reynolds and Anna F. Taylor Reynolds. Rita and her husband John were longtime residents of Meriden and St Rose Church prior to moving to Middletown and joining St. Colman’s Parish for the past 20 years. Rita was a warm and caring person who always had a smile and kind words for everyone she came in contact with. She was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and had traveled back and forth to Ireland many times in her younger years. Rita’s life was her family. She hosted many family gatherings and enjoyed sharing time with her loving husband of 66 years, Johnny (aka John), her 5 children and 14 beautiful grandchildren. Rita was an active member of her community. She was an executive board member of the Meriden Junior Women’s Club, St. Rose Parish Council, League of Women Voters, Secretary of the Meriden Save the Parks Committee, Secretary of the Meriden Beautification Committee, Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary, and the Miller Memorial Housing Admissions Committee. She was employed by Connecticut Light and Power for 8 years, Choate Rosemary Hall of Wallingford for a number of years, as well as by the Social Security Administration from which she retired. Besides her husband she is survived by her loving children: Dr. Karl Mischke and his wife Nyla of Kansas City, Missouri, Antaylor Mango of Farmington, Kevin Mischke and his wife Diane, of Durham, Ellen Lee and her husband Denis, of Marana, Arizona and Kurt Mischke and his wife Leslie, of Meriden, CT. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond J. Reynolds and her sisters Ruth Lang and Marjorie Imbert. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 10 am at St. Colman Church, 145 Hubbard Street, Middlefield. Arthur “Cliff” Bradley Jr., 74, husband of Judith E. Bradley passed away on September 3, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Meriden on June 24, 1941, he was the son of the late Arthur Clifford Bradley Sr. and Marie Gormley Bradley. Arthur resided in Meriden for all of his life and graduated from Meriden High School. Mr. Bradley was self-employed at Bradley & Cronin Tax Group in Meriden. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Navy. Arthur was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and performed in their annual Capers show, Hunter’s Men’s Golf Club, American Legion, North Italian Club, Polish Falcons and numerous others. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Sander and her husband William, Deborah Celella and her husband John, Stacy Jameson and her husband Sean and Shirley Bradley; thirteen grandchildren, Bradley and Benjamin Sander, Joseph Stedman, Melanie, Alicia, and William Irizarry, Brandy and Lexy Celella, Ryan, Kelly and Seany Jameson, Dignita Diaz and Angel Hiraldo Jr.; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Oczyc and her husband Robert; and a brother, Donald Bradley and his wife Gayle. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church 460 Broad St. Meriden, CT 06450 with Reverend Leon Hebrink officiating. Victor Couture, 62, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Adams, Massachusetts on February 26, 1953 the son of the late Bernard and Cecile Couture. Victor lived most of his life in Meriden, CT and graduated from Wilcox Technical High School. Vic was employed by Midstate Medical Center for 47 years. He was a member of the VFW 9965 in Yalesville and the American Legion in South Meriden. He was an avid fan of Nascar Racing and loved visiting Loudon Race track in Dover, New Hampshire. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Couture-Kelly and her husband Robert Kelly of Wolcott, CT; his son, Matthew Couture of Steep Falls, Maine; Step-daughters, Sara Brittingham and Desiree Brittingham of Wallingford, CT; grandchildren, Joshua Couture and Nathan Couture of Meriden, Stephen Marshall and Arissa Moore of Wallingford, Trevor Kelly of Wolcott and a grandson due in December; his brother, Eugene Couture and his wife Chantel Couture of Meriden, CT. He is also survived by many dear friends who were very special to him. He also leaves behind his loving cat, Jordan. Friends may call at the John J. Nancy Dishereits, 74, died on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Apple-Coccomo Health Care Center after a long illness. Born in Laconia, NH on January 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nathalie (Haynes) Huot. She was a longtime resident of Meriden. Nancy enjoyed swimming and boating on Lake Winnipesauke and spending time at Misquomicut Beach. Nancy loved spending time with her family and always led the singing and dancing when family got together. She also liked to cheer on the UCONN women’s basketball team. Nancy is survived by five children; Nick Ruitto and his wife Stacey of Ellington, Donna Ruitto Soderlund and her husband Edward of Meriden, Vinnie Ruitto and his longtime companion Melissa Kozak of Meriden, Leo Dishereits of Southington and Wendy Dishereits Whisnant and her husband Roger Jr. of Mt. Holly, NC. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a sister Deanna Huot of Marlborough, a brother Donald Huot of Westbrook, also a nephew and two nieces. She was predeceased by her son Brian Dishereits. Family and friends may call on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Olga K. Stoidis, 84, wife of the late Athanasios Stoidis, died on Monday, September 7, 2015 at Midstate Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Bela Crkva, Yugoslavia on September 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Kolmogorov. Olga was employed by International Silver Company for many years before it’s closing, Teleco Oil Field & Services Company in Meriden and retired from Pratt & Whitney in North Haven. She was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church and was a Trustee on the Church Council for many years. Olga was a caring and loving mother who enjoyed baking and was a great friend to all who knew her. She is survived by two sons, Johannis Stoidis and Konstantinos, both of Wallingford, and one brother, Theo Kolmogorov of Germany. She was predeceased by a brother, Nikolaus Schmidt. The funeral will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 9:15 am from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 10 am at SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 54 Park Avenue, Meriden. Burial will be in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. A Panakhida Service will be held at 6 pm during the wake. John L. Vezina, 62, husband of Joan (Record) Vezina, was beamed up to Heaven on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from his home. Born in Germany on June 15, 1953, he had resided in numerous states while serving with the US Navy residing in Waterbury for the last eighteen years. John was employed by UTC Aerospace. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Navy. John was a huge Star Trek fan and he loved flying his remote control drones. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kristin Szetela and her husband Andrew of Wallingford and Missy Jannetto and her husband Christian of Farmington, and the loves of his life, his five grandchildren, Jes, Jon, Emily, Reilly and Alexzander. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11 am at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT. Maria Fragomeni Commisso, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2015 at home. Born in Italy on November 5, 1932 the daughter of the late Cosimo & Immacalata Trichilo Fragomeni. Maria was a longtime resident of California before recently moving to Connecticut. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She is survived by two daughters, Ivana and Albina, both of California; four grandchildren; two sisters, Rosa Futia of Italy and Josephine Fornaciari (Joseph) of Meriden, her brother Dominic Fragomeni (Aviga) of Middletown and her brother-in-law Antonio Cammuso of Southington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her sister Teresa Cammuso and Brother-in-law Vincenzo Futia. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Saturday September 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, located at 109 Goodwill Avenue in Meriden.
