Anthony “Tony” J. Magnoli, 86, of Meriden, passed away on March 31, 2016, surrounded by loved ones after a sudden illness. Born in Meriden on February 22, 1930, the son of the late Anthony and Angelina “Nellie” Magnoli, he graduated from Meriden High School in 1948, entered the armed forces and was honorably discharged after the Korean conflict as sergeant first class. Mr. Magnoli was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He began a successful career in sales, most recently as general sales manager at Roberts Camper Center. Tony especially enjoyed equity investing throughout his life as well as discussing the national political scene. He was an avid reader and a champion of the underdog. He spent many wonderful years with his wife Joan. He was a fine man, with an exceptionally good nature who had a positive influence on anyone he came in contact with. Tony will be profoundly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan, his daughter Sheree Ann Cotrona and her husband Don, his son Anthony Sterling, as well as two grandsons, “D.J” Cotrona of Los Angeles and Justin Cotrona of Meriden. He is also survived by his two sisters, Marilyn Magnoli of Meriden and Elaine Glennon of Peabody, Massachusetts as well as a niece and two nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Tuesday, April 5th from 6 to 8 pm.
