Debra Ann Davidson, 63, of Meriden died on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief but heroic battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Meriden on July 3, 1952, the daughter of Arthur and Stephanie Kander Davidson. Debby was a graduate of Platt High School, Class of 1970 and most recently earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development, a major accomplishment for Debby. Ms. Davidson had her own home daycare center in Florida and most recently was employed by the Educational Playcare in Wallingford. She enjoyed antiquing, old movies and interior design. Ultimately, family was most important to her, especially her cherished grandsons. Debby was a selfless, beautiful, caring and loving individual who will be greatly missed. Debby is survived by her son Jason Canell and his wife Pamela of Milford; two grandchildren, Gehrig Arthur Canell and Nolan Ferguson Canell; her sister Donna Davidson of Unionville; her brother-in-law Daniel Pompei of Unionville and two nieces and a nephew, Hilarie Carriei and her husband Jay, Jessica Campbell and Jeremy Campbell. She is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and many other nieces and nephews from a previous marriage. Debby’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Smilow Cancer Hospital for their professionalism and compassion while Debby was in their care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Angels Church, 585 Main St., South Meriden 06451. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
