Robert J. MacDuff, 82 died on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in the Cardiac Care Unit of Yale New Haven Hospital with family by his bedside. He was the loving husband and best friend of Carolyn (Curtiss) MacDuff for 56 years. Born in Waterbury on May 26, 1933, Bob was raised in Meriden and West Haven. As a young man, he joined the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country for 20 ½ years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. After returning to Meriden, Bob worked as a sales representative and regional manager for the Hershey Creamery Company of Harrisburg, PA. and later for the Executive Motor Group. A licensed realtor, he was associated for many years with the Lynwood Agency. Bob enjoyed living in Meriden, and he took an active part in the community. A loyal member of the Kiwanis Club for 29 years, he delighted in taking part in their annual Kiwanis Kapers shows, serving on their Board of Directors, and reading to the preschool children in the Head Start Program. He was a volunteer at MidState Medical Center, a member of the Meriden Y’smen, and the senior men’s golf league at Indian Springs in Middlefield. Bob was a member of Bishop Tyler Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus of Hyannis, MA and the Silver City Knights of Columbus in Meriden. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by the light of his life, his granddaughter, Morgan Carolyn Whalen, her parents, David and Tracy Whalen of Middletown, a loving brother, Roger C. MacDuff and his wife, Elizabeth of Wallingford, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathleen and Paul Akasie of Kensington, Sidney I Dupont of Durham, North Carolina and Karen Curtiss of Manchester; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends, especially the Saturday morning breakfast buddies. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Leslie MacDuff Whalen, his parents Lionel and Alice (Grenier) MacDuff, his parents-in-law, George and Renee Curtiss, a sister, Noella MacDuff Graveline, a sister-in-law, Renee Curtiss Dupont and brothers-in-law, Russell G. Curtiss and Dwight Graveline. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church. Everyone is asked to meet directly at chuch. Burial with military honors will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Monday, November 23rd from 4 to 7 pm.
