Virginia E. (Dontigney) Guodace, 95, of Meriden, Ct., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Coccomo Memorial Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born on September 9, 1919, in Meriden, the daughter of Ferny and Lucille (Davis) Dontigney. She was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, Frank F. Guodace. As a young girl she lived in Washington, D.C. for several years, later moving back to Meriden where she met and married her husband and raised her family. She touched so many lives by her caring, loving nature and her gentle manner. She loved her family unconditionally, and always, always saw the best in everyone. She was a mild mannered, soft spoken lady with a kind heart and a very sharp mind. On the occasion of her 90th birthday she enjoyed a cruise with her 6 children and their spouses. She usually was the last one to turn in at the end of the day and the first to awake and get moving in the morning. Her children purchased a computer for her when she was in her late 80’s and she quickly became an expert at e-mailing, researching her genealogy on line as well as storing photos and using facebook. She enjoyed having her grandchildren, great grandchildren and recently great, great grandchildren around her. She would endlessly take photos and videos of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and recently her great, great grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was always ready for a special event with cameras in tow. She is survived by her children, Frank K. and Anne Guodace of Durham, Gary and Eileen Guodace of New Bern, N.C., Ronald and Joanne Guodace of Wallingford, Diana Maisto and her partner Leonard Piacenta of Palm Bay, Fl., Pamala Hurd and her partner Darrel Corson of Athens, Me. and Sharlene Jobbagy of Meriden. She is also survived by twenty one grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren and eleven great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Lois Carnot, and brothers Ferny “Bill” Dontigney Jr., Warren Dontigney and Leland Dontigney. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Marilyn Dontigney and sister-in-law Emma Bateman and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 6th at 11 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, prior to the Mass from 9 am to 10:30 am
