Iris Josefina (Colón) Gonzalez, 79, beloved wife of the late Deacon Aquilino Gonzalez, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at MidState Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in San German, PR, she was the daughter of the late Juan and Josefina (Morales) Colón. She had resided in Meriden since 1964. Mrs. Gonzalez retired from Canberra’s Industries after many years of service. She was a devoted catholic, a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and, who after retirement devoted her time to her church and serving her community as a Eucharistic minister. She is survived by three sons; Ronald Gonzalez and his wife Kelly of Durham, Jeffrey Gonzalez and his wife Andrea of Cheshire and Elmer Gonzalez and his wife Caroline of Meriden and eleven grandchildren; Andrew, Nathan, Owen, Ethan, Miakoda, Jeffery, Julia, Thomas, Mathew, Dayanara and Isaiah. She is also survived by two sisters; Ada and Zaida Colón and four brothers; Adrian, Vicente, Eugenio and Juan E. Colón and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Beside her husband Aquilino, she was predeceased by her brother Ramon Colón and a sister Domitila Colón. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Ave, Meriden, CT. Everyone is asked to gather at the church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be at St. Joseph Church on Tuesday, March 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, contribution in her memory may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, 405 Allen Avenue, Meriden CT 06451 or to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road #105, Middletown CT 06457.
