Helene Z. Podgorski, 95, wife of the late John P. Podgorski, died on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Masonic Healthcare after a brief illness. Born on August 18, 1919 in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Matthais and Mary (Kigolis) Zaledonis. Mrs. Podgorski resided in Meriden for most of her adult life and had attended Wilkes-Barre Township High School. She was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft until her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women. Mrs. Podgorski is survived by two sons, John Podgorski and his wife Patty Reni-Podgorski of Meriden and Bill Podgorski and his wife Petra of Portland; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Reni and Alex and Anna Podgorski. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Podgorski; five sisters and one brother. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 10 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 3 to 7 pm.
