Bertha E. Marcantonio, 93, wife of the late Michael V. Marcantonio passed away on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at Midstate Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on January 9th, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Agnes McMahon. Bertha was a lifelong Meriden resident and graduated from Meriden High School. She retired from Canberra Industries in 1988. Bertha was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Bertha loved 10 pin bowling, the Uconn Women’s Huskies and especially her grandchildren. Bertha is survived by two daughters, Patricia Marcantonio of Wakefield, RI and Michele and her husband Larry Bell of Meriden; a son, John Marcantonio of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Melissa Cooper and her husband Adam and Anthony Bell; three great-grandchildren, Brianna Cooper, Adam Cooper Jr. and Calob Cooper. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and her loving pet Wally. Bertha was predeceased by a son, Michael W. Marcantonio. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden and at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
