Donna Frederick

Donna Jean Frederick, daughter of Mildred Hollman Frederick and the late Francis J. Frederick entered eternal life on April 14, 2015 at Highlands Health Care Center in Cheshire, CT. after a long illness. Donna was born in Meriden on August 10, 1951. She graduated from Orville H. Platt High School in 1969 and was employed at International Silver Company General Offices in Meriden for many years. She was a faithful parishioner of Holy Angels Church in South Meriden. In addition to her mother, Donna is survived by her brothers, James F. Frederick and his wife Deborah and Deacon George W. Frederick and his wife Sandra, Her sister-in law JoAn Frederick, her nephews, Greg and his wife Cheri, Jason and his wife Elizabeth and Joseph and his wife Megan, her nieces, Lori, Susan and Dawn, her great nieces, Jennifer, Paige Aubrey, Claire and Mia, great nephews, Kyle, Brody, Ethan and Lincoln, many cousins and her two “special aunts,” Barbara Mackiewicz and Audrey Hollman. Donna loved being with her niece’s and nephew’s and caring for them and they fondly remember her “purple Gremlin” and the many rides they took with her. Another one of Donna’s passions was playing softball in the Meriden Amateur Softball Association, which she did for several years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main St. South Meriden, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Broad St., Meriden. There are no calling hours. The Frederick family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Highland Health Care Center in Cheshire and in particular, Dr. Michael Olson for the many years of compassionate care for Donna. Henry Peczynski

Henry C. Peczynski, 90, husband of Mary Carroll Peczynski passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at home after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Frank and Eleanor Mierzejewski Peczynksi. Henry resided in Meriden all of his life and attended Meriden schools. Mr. Peczynski worked for International Silver of Meriden and the Knights of Columbus of New Haven. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy aboard the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Minneapolis. Mr. Peczynski was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2, U.S.S. Minneapolis Association and the local chapter of AARP. Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by his son, John (Jack) F. Peczynski of Meriden; his grand-daughter, Sarah Peczynski of Meriden; his son-in-law, Michael Avery of Meriden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his daughter, Maryellen Avery; two sisters, Jean Peczynski and Helen Abramowicz and three brothers, Edward, John and Sigmond Peczynski. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450 and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ersula Del Favero Zalenski, 98, of Manchester, wife of the late Marian (Monty) Zalenski, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015. Born on April 20, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Belli) Del Favero. Ersula was a resident of Meriden for seventy-eight years prior to moving to The Arbors in Manchester in 1995. She was a longtime hairdresser working with William DelGerno and James Fields in Meriden Salons. She was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and will be best remembered for her pride and endless research and documentation of family genealogy from the 14th century until the present. She is survived by one brother, John (Patricia) DelFavero of Atherton, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a daughter, Marion (aka Nonny or Rusty); son-in-law, Henry (Hank) Kelsy; stepmother, Rena (Pagona) Del Favero ; brothers, Victor (Julia), Adolph (Agnes), Albert (Ella), Raymond (Dorthea), Otto (Mary); sisters, Eleanor (Victor) Fontanella, Louise (Leonard) Erardi, Marion (John) Spinelli and Lucy (Aldo) Gregory and her longtime friend and companion, Bernard (Bernie) Derow. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11 am at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 prior to the Mass. Jay (Joseph) R. Zebora Jr., 66, formerly of Meriden and Cromwell, CT, husband of Gladys (Germain) Zebora, died suddenly on May 4, 2015. Born in Meriden on August 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph R. Zebora and Alma (Roden) Zebora. He had resided in Florida for the last three and a half years. He had attended Meriden schools and graduated from Maloney High School, Class of 1966. Mr. Zebora was employed by Tomtec of Hamden, retiring in August 2010. He was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church in Naples, FL. Jay loved exercising, golfing, pickleball and vacationing in Aruba. Besides his wife Gladys, he is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Garret) Gassman of Middletown; two grandchildren, Jamie and Colin Gassman of Middletown; one sister, Janet (Paul) Fitzsimons of Enfield; two brothers, Mark Zebora and Rob Zebora, both of Meriden and two nieces, Kerri Work and her husband Andy and Kristen Fitzsimons. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10 am at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Meriden- Mrs. Elaine (Pappas) Page, 60, of Meriden passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Masonic Healthcare Hospice Unit after a year long courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Elaine was born in Meriden on October 9, 1954 and lived in Meriden her whole life. She was a graduate of Francis T. Maloney High School in 1973. She furthered her education at Lauren Business School and Middlesex Community College. She was employed at Sysco Foodservice of Connecticut for 18 years. She enjoyed spending time at their Florida home in Tierra Verde, FL with beautiful beaches and sunsets. She leaves behind her parents John and Paraskeve Pappas of Meriden; her beloved husband Michael J. Page of 40 years; her two beloved sons Joseph Page and his wife, Anne, of Watertown, CT, Austin Page of Meriden; her adorable grandsons Michael and Joseph Page of Watertown, CT; her two siblings Thomas Pappas and his wife Pam, of Meriden, and her devoted sister and best friend Mary Ann Menard and her husband Lyle of Kensington. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Marie Hatten and her wife Colleen, Laura O’Brien and her husband Jon-Michael, Jonathan and Kaitlin Pappas and great nieces and nephews Julianna, Johnny, and Sophia O’Brien. Elaine also leaves behind uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and many other relatives. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 14th at 10:30 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 West Main Street New Britain, CT. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Richard M. Pegolo, 80, husband of the late Dolores (Bossick) Pegolo, died on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in New Britain on October 22, 1934, he was the son of the late Marino and Rose (Orecchio) Pegolo. He had resided in Meriden since 1958 and had graduated New Britain High School, Class of 1952. Richard was employed by Tilcon, retiring in 1994 after thirty-five years of service. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Richard was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Ross; two sons, Mark and Linda Pegolo and Edward and Kathy Pegolo; six grandchildren; one sister, Emma Reynolds; one sister-in-law, Carole Litch and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Dino. The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 9:15 from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 10 am at St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. William H. Meyers, 92, husband of Norma (Dahler) Meyers, died on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Coccomo Memorial after a brief illness. Mr. and Mrs. Meyers recently celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary on February 10th. His family including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were in attendance and it was a very happy day for all. Born in Meriden on August 4, 1922, he was the son of the late William and Alice (Kelly) Meyers. He had attended Meriden schools. Mr. Meyers for many years owned and operated William H. Meyers & Sons Building Contractors. He was a member of the Meriden Elks Club for many years. Besides his wife Norma, he is survived by six daughters, Mary Simmons-Meyers, Kathleen (Thomas) Nagel, Patricia Meyers, Elizabeth (Patrick) Veillette, Laura Meyers and Theresa (Louis) Shamas; two sons, William (Marilyn) Meyers and Robert Meyers; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 am in Sacred Heart Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Elena Rose O’Brien, 99, wife of the late William F. O’Brien passed away on May 14, 2015 at Miller Memorial Community after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on May 13, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Felix Cattaruzza and Maria Bucci Cattaruzza. Elena resided in Meriden all her life and graduated from Meriden High School. Mrs. O’Brien was employed by New Departure for many years and Jefferson Junior High School of Meriden. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. Elena loved playing set back, reading, watching her game shows and family gatherings. “Nonna” was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved her dog Otis and cat O’B. She will lovingly be remembered by her family for her undying faith, her gentle spirit, her unselfish heart and her caring, loving nature. Elena is survived by her daughter, Nancy O’Brien Cammarata and her husband Frank of Meriden; her two sons, Thomas F. O’Brien and his wife Betty of Old Saybrook and Paul William O’Brien and his wife Debbie of Chesapeake, VA; her nine grandchildren, Marc Cammarata, Kelly Anetrella, Susanne Cammarata Lopez and Erin Cammarata, Cheryl Novicelli, Laurie Barton, Graig O’Brien, Danny and Katie O’Brien; her nineteen great-grandchildren, Isaac, Vincent and Lincoln Cammarata, Elena, Grace and Sophia Anetrella, Noah, Eli and Tessa Lopez, Max and Thor Novicelli, Will and Allie Barton, Evan, Aidan and Marnett O’Brien, Lovella and Graison O’Brien and Emma Blair; and her sister-in-law Helen Cattaruzza of Meriden. She is also survived by three nieces, Cathy Cattaruzza Fahey, Maryann Cattaruzza Nessing and Linda Rinaldini-Head. Elena was predeceased by her brother, Frank Cattaruzza and her sister, Antonette Rinaldini. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Carl E. Audet, 82, of Meriden, beloved husband of Marie Gloria Audet, died on Saturday May 23rd 2015, at MidState Medical Center from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Waterville, ME, on March 22, 1933 he was the son of the late William and Adeline (Gauthier) Audet. Carl was employed by Allegheny- Ludlum as a machinist, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army. Carl was an active parishioner of Holy Angels Church, a Grand Knight of the K of C in Wallingford and enjoyed singing as a member of the Barbershop Quartet. Most of all he loved being with his family and will be greatly missed. Besides his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his son , Edward Audet of Aurora, CO: two daughters, Lisa Audet of West Hartford and Cynthia Audet of Alameda, CA; eight grandchildren, Lisanne Lopez-Audet, Marissa Lopez-Audet, Annika Lopez-Audet and Agatha Lopez-Audet all of Thornton CO; Elena Santos, Luis Santos and Mario Santos of West Hartford and Casey Studebaker of Alameda CA.; four brothers Reginald Audet of West Dennis, MA; Gerald (Sheila) Audet of Fairfield, ME; Lawrence Audet of Winslow, ME and Peter (Janice) Audet of Skowhegan ME and two sisters Sheila Bacon of Lewiston, ME and Gloria Caron of Manchester, NH. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and countless devoted friends. Carl was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Norman and Paul. Janet T. Fortin, 84, wife of Paul H. Fortin, passed away on May 25, 2015 at the Regency House in Wallingford surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Haven on November 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helene Rueb. Mrs. Fortin enjoyed crocheting bags and filling them with toys for children with cancer. She donated the bags to Yale New Haven Hospital, Hershey Children’s Hospital, and many other hospitals on behalf of the Children’s Cancer Recovery Foundation. She enjoyed gardening, baking and raising her family. Besides her husband Paul, she is survived by two daughters, Michelle Oefinger and her husband James of Hershey, PA and Rosemary Fortin Sperduti of Bristol; three sons, David Fortin and Karen Labrecque of Wallingford, Robert Fortin and his wife Carol of Wallingford and Marc Fortin and his wife Cathy of Cheshire; twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Natalie Burgh of FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Rueb. The funeral will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11 am at Holy Angels Church, 585 Main St. South Meriden, CT 06451 for a Mass of Christian Burial. Donald Frank ‘Sparky’ Anthony, 69, beloved husband of 38 years, to the late Carol (Walker) Anthony, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was born June 1, 1945, a son of the late Michael C. and Elvera ‘Laddie’ (Verzulli) Anthony. Sparky attended local schools, graduating from Wilcox Technical High School, class of 1963 from the electrical shop. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969 on the USS Hancock in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam Conflict. He was employed by Dan Szymaszek and Sons of Meriden, Carabetta Enterprises of Meriden, and the City of Meriden for 25 years, in Traffic, and in the role of Electricial Inspector in the Building Department, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion, Polish Knights and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, being awarded Elk of the year in 2004. For a short time he was the owner of Sparkless Electric of Cheshire. His favorite past time was purchasing antique cars, going to car shows with friends Dan and Dan’s son Josh, showing off his 1971 7Up Convertible Mustang. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and her husband, Ken, Dona Lynn and her husband, Michael, and Deborah Leoni and her husband, Ronald; a son, Theodore Bartley; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Kenny and Brooke, Ryan and Melissa, Danielle and Kevin, Carisa, Justin and Beverly, Dana and Brian, Nichole, Ron and Katy, Samantha, Ashley, and Courtney and Joey; and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bob Kozuch, Vera and Al Luft, and Lucille and Doug Gardner; one sister-in-law, Nancy Anthony; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Judith and Ernie Creta, and Barbara and Joel Cassista; a step-sister, Phyllis Currier; many nephews-nieces; and his loving companion Diane Sequist. Two very special friends and their wives, from “The South Second Street spit fires”, Franny and his wife Sandy and their children, and Snooki and Sarah Daenekindt, and their children; and close friends Bob and Sue Curran. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Virginia Anthony, his brother, Michael Anthony; and his niece, Kristine Alexander; step-brother, Ralph Thompson. A funeral service will take place Thursday, May 28, at at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 22 Goodwill Ave. Meriden. A military funeral will immediately follow at the Cheshire Street Cemetary, in Cheshire. Ralph Harrison Thompson, 73, husband of fifty-two years to Barbara (Cefarelli) Thompson, passed away on May 22, 2015 at Midstate Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Hartford on July 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Virginia Wilson. He was raised in Meriden and was a graduate of Wilcox Technical High School. He went on to receive an Associate of Science in Electronics Engineering from the Ward Institute of Electronics and later a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hartford. Ralph enjoyed a long and successful career as a machine tool designer and software engineer. He worked for numerous manufacturers and industrial research institutes; Pratt and Whitney, General Electric, IBM, the United States Air Force, NASA and Westinghouse. His work led to major contributions and advancements in the fields of Industrial Automation and Computer Numerical Control. He was a loving father and husband, a true and faithful friend and a consummate professional in all things. He was a quiet and gentle man, who in his later days, freely offered kindly and wise advice to all. In addition to being devoted to his career and family, Ralph was also an avid fisherman, and a talented carpenter and auto mechanic. His life was well loved and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife, he leaves behind two sons, Gary Thompson of Cheshire and Joseph Thompson of Higganum; a daughter-in-law, Melissa (Daniels) Thompson of Higganum; one sister, Phyllis Currier of Houston, TX; two nieces and many friends. Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours.
