Mercedes Mejias Torres, 94, wife of the late Ricardo Torres, died on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Apple Rehab- Coccomo. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on May 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Paulino and Carlotta Torres Mejias. She had resided in Meriden Since 1964 and was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. She is survived by one daughter, Olga Flanders and her husband Charles Malis of Meriden; three sons, Claudio Lopez of Rocky Hill, Ricardo Torres and his wife Anna of Meriden and Hector Torres and his wife Virginia of Meriden; six grandchildren, Dennis Flanders and his wife Patti, Nancy Torres, Betsy Torres, Elsie Torres-Brown, Melissa Zemmitti and Edward Torres; nine great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; one sister, Aurelia Sanchez; one brother, Efigenio Mejias and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by many sisters and brothers. The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at 11 am at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9 to 11 am prior to the service.
