Eva (Szymaszek) King, 90, of Meriden, wife of the late Donald King, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a lengthy illness. Eva was the eleventh child in a family of twelve children born November 24, 1924 to Michael and Catherine (Trella) Szymaszek. She was educated in the Meriden school system and was employed at the International Silver Company for 24 years retiring in 1986. Eva is survived by a son Robert King of Illinois; a grandson Darren King and his wife Dawn of Illinois; four great grandchildren, Alec, Zach and twins Victoria and Joshua King also of Illinois; sisters-in-law, Olive Johnson of Island Pond Vermont, Doris MacDougal of Jacksonville Beach Florida and Mary Angiletta of Meriden, Beverly King of Wallingford; and her extended family, Roger, Diane, Amy and Shannon Stolting. She was predeceased by parents Michael and Catherine; her husband Donald; seven brothers, Cwt. Edward Szymaszek (killed in WWII), Colonel Louis Szymaszek, Walter Szymazek, Alfred Szymaszek, Charles Szymaszek, Phillip Szymaszek, and Daniel Szymaszek; four sisters, Emily Doyle, Veronica Drezak, Genevieve Dara and Irene Arnold; and several nieces and nephews. At the request of the deceased, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St. Meriden, followed by a Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery next to her beloved husband Donald King who died July 13, 2007. The Joh J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements.
