James J. Pagnam, 80, husband of the late Joanne Fox Pagnam, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on Friday December 19, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends. Born on July 12, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Anna (Ring) Pagnam. Mr. Pagnam was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended local schools including the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. James was employed for over 25 years at Pratt & Whitney division of UTC as a Human Resources Administrator, retiring in 1993. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, an active member of the Meriden Y’s Men, he enjoyed travel, reading, biking, walking, as well as playing bridge. He was also an avid movie and theater goer and a fan of the N.Y. Giants, Yankees and UConn Men’s Basketball. He is survived by his daughter, Monica E. Pagnam and her husband Lawrence P. DiLauro of Meriden, two step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Thomas S. Pagnam and Edward L. Knell. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at 8:45 am from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, and at 9:30 am at St. Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with Military Honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 22nd from 4 to 8pm.
