Edward Murphy, 82, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Meriden, died unexpectedly on November 27, 2014, at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Nancy Henderson Murphy for 59 years. Born in Meriden, on March 31, 1932, the son of the late Edward James and Abigail Cavanaugh Murphy, he had resided in Meriden, until moving to Florida in 1989. He graduated from Wilcox Technical School. Mr. Murphy was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, until his retirement. Edward enjoyed golfing, the casino and spending time with his family. Edward is survived by one daughter, Susan Katuzney and husband Stephen and one son, William Murphy and his wife Kim; his sister Elizabeth MacDuff and husband Roger; three grandchildren Stephen Katuzney and his wife Heather, Michael Katuzney and his fiancé Lindsay, and Abbey Seaman and her husband Shane; three great-grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Katuzney and Bryce Seaman and several nieces and nephews. “Nana & Pa” will be missed by all. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a service to be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 7pm at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be private. Friends and family may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 4 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for his great-grandchildren’s education may be made to the State Police Credit Union, 321 Research Pkwy, Meriden, CT 06450, c/o Susan Katuzney.
