Janice Gaj

Janice Baigert Gaj, 78, wife of the late Edward Gaj, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2014, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Jan was born in Meriden on May 14, 1936, to Anthony and Catherine Curylo Baigert. She was a long time resident of Meriden prior to moving to Southington. Jan retired from CBS Surgical of Meriden. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in Meriden. Jan was a dedicated caregiver and volunteer at the Franciscan Life Center – Collaborative Care Program in Meriden. Jan enjoyed travelling and had many special friends. She was a lover of life, family, friends and people. Jan is survived by one daughter, Nancy Miller and her husband Lynn of Malaga, WA; her three sons Paul Gaj and his wife Nancie of Groton, MA, William Gaj of Pepperell, MA, Dan Gaj and his wife Lisa of Middlebury, CT; three grandchildren, Matthew Lucas, Phoenix Gaj and Maxfield Gaj. Jan left many special nieces and nephews, especially Gerry and Barbara Kubeck, Maureen Maniscalco, Ann-Margaret Dombrowik, Dorrie Marino and David Baigert. Jan also leaves behind seven special grand-dogs. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters: Ed, Rudy, John, Gene, Walt, Adeline, Mame, Dot, Emily and Florence. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 10 am at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron Street, Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 3 to 7 pm. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Collaborative Care Center at the Franciscan Life Center, 271 Finch Avenue, Meriden CT 06451 or at flcenter.org.
