Bruce E. Baran, 62, devoted husband, best friend, father, grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 after a valiant fight with cancer. Bruce was born in Meriden on January 26, 1952. Bruce dedicated his life to his family and friends. He worked at H.O. Penn in Newington for 23 years. Bruce lived his life to help others, when you needed him, he was there. He will be deeply missed. Bruce is survived by his wife Karan of 33 years; a son, Ryan Skitromo and his wife Beth; three grandchildren, Gabriel, Luke, and Jude; a brother, Gary Baran and his wife Lynn of Meriden; two sisters, Diane Folta and her husband Dan of Cheshire and Susan Termini and her husband Rick of Wallingford. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a lot of very special friends including Rolo. The funeral will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main Street, Meriden and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be private. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, December 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 Bruce’s family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Fumo and the staff of MidState Medical Center.
