Anna M. Toth, 102, of Meriden, died in the Village of Kensington Place on November 25, 2014. She was the wife of the late John J. Toth. Born in Bridgeport, May 14, 1912, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Spisak. As an infant, she returned with her parents to their native Hungary. At the age of 16, she came back to the United States without her parents, joining her brother and aunt in Bridgeport. After her marriage in 1934, she and her husband resided in Meriden. She worked at the former Styletex and Boynton’s department stores for several years. Mrs. Toth was a member of St. Joseph Church parish, the Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Council of Catholic Women for more than 70 years. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Whitcomb and her husband, William, of Milford; by two grandchildren, Karen Bryan and her husband, David, of Franklin, MA, and Brian Whitcomb and his wife, Michaela, of Cranston RI; and by six great-grandchildren, Sara and Peter Bryan, and Bennett, Andie, John and Brady Whitcomb. In addition, she is survived by her sister Mariska Szenegeto, residing in Hungary. Mrs. Toth was predeceased by her daughter Carol Toth of Meriden and her brother Joseph Spisak of Fairfield. She was also predeceased by her brothers Andrew, Ignatius, Michael, and John Spisak, and sister Erzi, all of Hungary. Friends may call Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden from 9 to 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Meriden. Interment will be private in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Her family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff in the Village of Kensington Place, the nurses from Vitas Hospice, and Patricia Fusco who gave her care and comfort in a very loving way.
