John L. Sullivan, III, 73, of Falmouth, MA, Meriden, CT, and Lakeland, FL died suddenly at his home in Falmouth, MA on Friday, October 17, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife, Clarice [Amundsen] Sullivan and his aunts, Mildred Layman and Mary Cichowski. John was born and raised in Meriden, CT, son of John L. Sullivan, Jr. and Ann [Cichowski] Sullivan. He was actively involved in Waterbury politics and the American Federation of Teachers, as well as being an avid golfer. John graduated from Southern CT State College with a degree in education and completed his graduate studies at Bridgewater State University in MA. He spent his career as a teacher in the Waterbury Public School System and served as an administrator at Wallace Middle School in Waterbury before retiring after 40 years an educator. Upon retiring, “Sully” held the position of principal of the CT Junior Republic in Litchfield, CT. He so enjoyed working with his students and always fought for the underprivileged. The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 10:30 am from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 11 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning prior to the service 9 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Connecticut Junior Republic [CJR] to provide the John L.
