Anita M. Panella, 82, of Meriden, beloved wife of sixty-two years of Joseph Panella, died on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Masonicare after a lengthy illness. Born in Meriden on April 14, 1932 the daughter of the late Aurea Harnois and Adjutor Tremblay, she had resided in Meriden for all of her life. Mrs. Panella was employed by Gaylord Hospital for some twenty-seven years before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and the Red Hat Society. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Teresa Hazelwood and her husband Jack of Wallingford; one son, Joseph Panella Jr. of Meriden; two granddaughters, Tayler and Lauren Hazelwood; one brother, Fernand Tremblay of Meriden, two sisters-in-law of Italy and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Rita McEvoy of Meriden. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10 am at St. Laurent Church. Burial will be in St. Laurent Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
