Janetta Palmer Seligman, 99, cherished wife of the late Dr. Saul C. Seligman passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on April 10, 2014. Born in Middletown on July 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Sarah Palmer. She had resided in Meriden for over 40 years. Janetta graduated from New Britain Teacher’s College and was a grammar school teacher in Higganum. Mrs. Seligman was a member of Congregation B’Nai Abraham and a lifetime member of Hadassah. Janetta was involved in Book Clubs, was very athletic as a young person and loved to play bridge. Janetta was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was loved and will be missed by all. Mrs. Seligman is survived by three daughters, Myrna Friedman and her husband Gerol formerly of Glastonbury, CT Ellen Taylor and her husband John of Bloomfield, CT, Joan Vogel and her husband Arnold of Longmeadow, MA; nine grandchildren, Matthew Schreibman, Debra Bingham, Lauren Berman, Eric Shorr, Jennifer Satalino, Daniel Shorr, Shari Schuman, Tracy Dau, and Melanie Sadok; 18 beloved great-grandchildren, a brother, Dr. George Palmer and his wife Dorothy of Westbrook. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law and best friend, Adele Seligman formerly of Meriden. She was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters-in-law, Herbert and Norma Palmer, Arthur and Bertha Palmer, Stuart and Ruby Palmer and Lawrence and Florence Palmer; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Benjamin Seligman, Louis and Rose Seligman and Mary and Irving Sholkovitz. A funeral service will be held in Temple B’Nai Abraham 127 East Main Street Meriden, CT on Sunday, April 13th at 10:15 a.m. with Rabbi Michael Kohn officiating. Burial will be in B’Nai Abraham Cemetery. A period of mourning will be held on Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. and on Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the home of Ellen and John Taylor 9F West Lane, Bloomfield.
