Leo J. Woronick, Jr., 63, husband of Diane Woronick, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Born and raised in Meriden on March 2, 1951, he was a son of the late Leo and Stacia (Siemak) Woronick Sr. Mr. Woronick was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School and Maloney High School, attended the University of Houston and was an alumnus of Central Connecticut State University. He was a great father and family man with a heart of gold who will be greatly missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amy Sweder and her husband Troy of Methuen, MA; a son, Scott Woronick and his wife Stephanie of Cheshire, three grandchildren, Kaya and Trey Sweder and Ava Woronick; and a sister, Kathy Smith and her husband Michael of Seymour. Leo is also survived by a brother in law, Gerald Cordore Jr. and a niece, Kim O’Meara and her husband Tim. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450 on Monday, April 14th from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Robert Szymaszek Scholarship Fund, c/o the Meriden Federal Teachers Credit Union, 95 Liberty St., Meriden, CT 06450.
