Dorothy (Sherri) Cerreta, 85, wife of the late John M. Cerreta, Sr., died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Village of Kensington. Born in Meriden on July 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Josephine DeBaise. She was a lifelong Meriden resident, graduated from Meriden High School and attended Stone Business School. Mrs. Cerreta was employed by the Meriden Board of Education for over forty two years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Dorothy loved traveling to her second home in Miami Beach, Florida and enjoyed walking on the beach. She is survived by two sons, John M. Cerreta, Jr. and his wife Ann Marie of North Haven and Scott C. Cerreta and his wife Lynn of Southington and grandchildren, Jonathan, Elysia, Krystin, Anthony and Megan Cerreta. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Luke DeBaise, Jr. The funeral will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St. Meriden and at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, April 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. A special thank you to the staff at Comprehensive Dialysis Center in Meriden and to the staff at the Village of Kensington.
