Robert J. Grimord, 95, loving husband of Hazel R. Burgess Grimord, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Meriden Center. Born in Meriden on February 25, 1919, he was the son of the late George and Eva (Bourcier) Grimord. Mr. Grimord was employed by NY., NH and Hartford R.R. for over 10 years and retired from the US Postal Service with over 34 years. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, where he was married in September 1943. Besides his beloved wife of 70 years, he is survived by a daughter Mary Jane Grimord, a son James R. Grimord, three grandchildren, Scott, Michael and James Grimord Jr., and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Lorraine Mesite and a brother Laurent Grimord. He was predeceased by a sister Edna Konyu. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St. Meriden. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St. Meriden on Friday, March 28th from 5 to 8 p.m.
