Henry J. Krupa Sr., 92, of Meriden, husband of the late Annette Krupa, died on Thursday, December 19, 2013 peacefully in his sleep at home. Born in Meriden on January 26, 1921, he was the son of the late John and Caroline Krupa and had resided in Meriden for his entire life. Mr. Krupa had attended Meriden schools and was employed by New Departure-Hyatt plants in both Meriden and Bristol. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on D-Day. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. In his youth, Mr. Krupa played for local baseball team, the Dexters. Henry, an ace righthander, pitched them to their second city championship in 1939. Henry was generous, humble, and hardworking throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol T. Krupa of Ashford and Ann M. Cunningham of Oshkosh, WI; two sons, Henry J. Krupa Jr. of Meriden and Thomas G. and his wife, Carol A. (Pivonka) Krupa of Ashford; one grandson, Jeffrey Krupa of Ashford; and one step-grandson, Nelson J. Boutot Jr. of Rockville. Predeceased by several brothers and sisters, he is survived by one sister, Cecelia Docar of Southington; and several nieces and nephews. Special mention to two friends, Bill Ashwell of Centerville, OH and Elizabeth Bellante of Meriden.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT and at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3 to 6 p.m.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to his lifelong primary care physician, Dr. Bruce Brumberger, the staff at Village Green of Wallingford Rehab and Health Center, and the caring nursing staff and physicians at Midstate Medical Center. The family would also like to extend a special recognition to Dr. Peter Leff.
