Belen Rivera Roman, 96, wife of the late Claudio Roman, died Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Masonicare Health Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Aguada, PR on January 23, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Celso and Julia (Gonzalez) Rivera. She was a longtime Meriden resident and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. She loved to cook for family gatherings and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by three daughters, Maria Cardona and her husband Virgilio, Gilda Cardona and her husband Raul and Denise Perez and her friend Carol Kurwelnz all of Meriden, three sons, Edwin Roman and his wife Ada of Puerto Rico, Nelson Roman and his wife Alma and Isidro Roman and his wife Ana all of Meriden, She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, many great great grandchildren, two sisters Irma Villafañe and America Gonzales, two brothers Isidro and Carlos Rivera and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Damaso Roman, daughter in law Maria Luisa Roman, three brothers and one sister.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, on Tuesday, December 10th form 4 to 8 p.m.
