Stanley M. “Sky King” Solecki, 95, husband of the late Luella (Bourgeois) Solecki died on Friday, November 15th, 2013 at the Village Green of Wallingford. Born in Woonsocket, RI on April 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Marcel and Victoria Blyskal Solecki. Stanley resided in Meriden for most of his life and was employed by the International Silver Co. prior to retirement. Stanley was a veteran of WWII having served with the Army Air Corps. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member and former President of the VFW of Meriden.
Stanley is survived by a daughter, Cheryl and her husband Ed Austin of AL; two sons, Francis Solecki of FL and Scott Solecki and his wife Julie of OH; four grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Frank Palumbo, Christine Solecki, George Austin, and Sarah Solecki; four great-grandchildren, Payslee Austin, Frankie, Nick, and Mia Palumbo; a sister, Wanda Michaud of Pawtucket, RI; a brother, John Solecki of Texas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Stanley was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Austin and two sisters.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450. Burial with Military Honors will be in State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite Military charity.
